Tropical Blossom was founded in Edgewater, Florida in 1940, when David and Helen McGinnis, using their trusted station wagon as collateral, purchased a dairy barn and converted it into the Tropical Blossom Fruit & Honey Company. Soon the sun-kissed orange groves, swamps and forests of Central Florida would become home to David’s beehives. Within just a few short years they were selling their hand-packed honey up and down Florida’s coasts to locals and tourists alike.
Today the company is run by David and Helen’s son, Doug McGinnis, and is still a reflection of the special place where it started. While Tropical Blossom is one of the world’s leading suppliers of honey and honeycomb, it is our specialties like Orange Blossom, Tupelo, and Palmetto that now even more than ever are mainstays of Southern life. Grab a jar and indulge yourself. You’ll see just why the days down here are always honey and bright.
Our honey reflects the place we call home.
The plants that bees pollenate from are key in shaping the taste of honey. Honey made from a wildflower field tastes much different than honey made from a Florida orange grove.
The sun-filled days and varied, lush flora of the area that we’re fortunate to call home play a big part in allowing us to offer a wide range of honey varietals, all with unique flavors. In fact, our regional honey products are what Tropical Blossom is best known for. This includes honey varietals such as Orange Blossom, Wildflower, Saw Palmetto, Gallberry, and Tupelo; and naturally infused honey such as Key Lime, Tangerine, Meyer Lemon and Honeybell Tangelo. And every one is all natural, raw and unfiltered.
That’s why we say, if you want to indulge in the sweetness of the south, then indulge in honey from the south.
